Trip to Whitney

The trip to Whitney, was quite interesting. Some pieces I really enjoyed, others didn't find them much art, and others were amusing. The pieces I found most appealing were the instillation videos and the interactive ones. For example, Nina Berman's artwork on the effects of the war was very personal and gives a harsh impact to the audience. As opposed to Martin Kersels' work who has an interesting concept, however, it doesn' t catch much of my interest as Berman's. Overall the Bienniel was fun and entertaining also very diverse.

Midterm Project 2

With this image I wanted to do something playful, similar to the first. I wanted to make an impossible situation or scenario and captured through an image.
The process was a little complicated, the main task was being able to place the characters correctly, also getting the shadows and highlights in match with the setting.
I really like this picture I find it humorous and whimsical.

Midterm Project

Most things are possible using photo shop, I decided I wanted to create an image that people would be freaked out by. Just as others do when they see images of Big Foot, and so forth. With this image I wanted to recreate that feeling, so I came up with the idea of an alien invasion.
The procedure wasn't too complicated the main work I had to focus on was getting the right saturation of the colors right.
Overall I like the outcome of the project I believe it was successful.

Image Alteration: Before & After

This is the original picture, before it was enhance.

This is the after picture, where I enhanced it making it look clearer and not over exposed.

4 artists

Gregrory Crewdson's artworks are very playful and add this surreal effect using realistic objects and people. The settings for some of his pieces come from a room found inside a home which makes it personal however it seems exploited by showing it to the audience. Teun Hocks gives the same type of effect as Crewdson's work, using strange juxtapositions in his work and making it surreal. I enjoy Cindy Sherman's work, she poses in her own artwork as a self portrait but not as herself rather than different roles of women. It is interesting seeing how the same person can have different identities. Jeff Wall's work is interesting, it seems like the characters are from a different era and they are staged in a bizarre way. They seem off but very appealing to the mind, as if the audience is attracted to it because they want to figure out what the work is about.
All four artist give this whimsical and surreal effect to the audience which makes it more alluring to the eye.
